Biography
Diane R. Acosta Garza left this world for a far better place with her Lord. She left on March 8, 2010.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m., Thursday, March 11, at Trinity Baptist Church in Texas City. Mrs. Garza was cremated.
She was born to Angel R. Acosta and Enriqueta Acosta on September 27, 1953 in Texas City. She attended school in Texas City. She married Jose’ A. Garza Sr. on November 24, 1971. They moved to Landstuhl, Germany shortly after she gave birth to her first child. She came back to the states in 1975. She then gave birth to her second child in 1976 in Texas City. She was a devoted wife and mother and one of the best grandmothers. She was also a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Angelita “Mama” Ramirez and her grandfather, Timoteo Ramirez, her grandmother Dona Lenor Acosta, her father Angel R. Acosta, her aunt Rosie Ramirez, her suegra Sarita K. Garza, her sister-in-law Bertha K. Garza and her brother-in-law Rogelio “Roy” Garza, Sr.
She will be tremendously missed and never forgotten by her husband, Jose Garza Sr., her mother Enriqueta Acosta, Trinidad “Sonny” Salazar and wife Eloida, brother Angel “Ol Man” Acosta and wife Leticia “Alma” Acosta, brother Mario and wife Cindy Acosta, sister Suzanne Vasquez and partner John Diaz, sister Yadira “Bonnie” Garza, all from Texas City. Her children: son, Jose Garza Jr. and Amanda Leyva, daughter Amanda Bree “Mandy” Garza Lightfoot and husband Lee Lightfoot; her grandchildren: grandson Gabriel Garza, granddaughter Haley Diane “Mo” Moyer and grandsons Mateo Kaine Lightfoot and Lorenzo Lee “Moso” Lightfoot; nieces Vonnie Vasquez, Vedette Vasquez Peckman, and Ash Peckman, Marlo Acosta King and Drew King, Lenora Garza and Michael Pugh, Sr., Delma and Carlos Gonzales, Nina and Billy Everling; nephews Rogelio “Roy” Garza, Jr. and Austin Adams, Tim Vasquez, Michael Vasquez and Raquel Ouellette, James “Jaime” and Letisha Herrera, Trae Herrera and wife Candice, Angel Acosta and wife Lettie Acosta, Adrian Acosta and wife Amelia, Anthony Acosta, “Little” Mario Acosta, and numerous great-nieces and –nephews.
She will also be missed by her cousins Brenda and Richard Powell, Phyllis “Phyll” V. Nesmith and Renee’ “Sissy” Zabalaoui, as well as her in-laws Pablo Garza, Olga and Juan “Johnny” Herrera, Elma Garza and also her dog, whom she loved very much, Dela “Who-Who”.
A special thanks to the Ortiz family, Nena Hiles, for being there for her and our family over the years. Another special thanks to her pastor and friend Ronnie Mills and to her church family at Trinity Baptist Church.
We would also like to thank the staff of the Hospice Care Team and all the dear people whom took great care of her.
