Biography

Elma Brown, 99, of Texas City, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Mainland Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 30, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3 – 5 p.m. Friday, January 29, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born March 18, 1910 in Kenney, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Texas City for over 70 years. Elma was an avid gardener, talented quilter, and was cherished by family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie, and daughter-in-law, Janet.

Survivors include her children Charles Brown and wife Anne, Paul Brown and wife Phyllis, and Karen Hemingway and husband Mike; grandchildren: Larry Brown and wife Sharon, Steve Brown, Mark Brown and fiancée Pam Walker, Matthew Hemingway and wife Britlin, Kevin Hemingway and wife Analiese, Gregg Hemingway, and Susan Gray and husband Jeff; 8 great-grandchildren; and loving caregiver Flonnie Jones.
